I had to work this morning, so I missed out on the chance to see John Kerry and Bruce Springsteen when they were in town. But Moon, she was the lucky recipient of a last-minute call from Vicki, who was taking Nicole and Aimee downtown for the big rally.
Of course, Moon was still in bed (because the kids are off school for the state teachers’ convention). I shook her and asked if she was interested. Her eyes flew open. “How many people are going to be there?” she asked. “Thousands,” I answered. She jumped out of bed. “Cool!”
I think she likes crowds.
Anyway, she was totally thrilled with the experience (she and Nicole were able to get pretty close to the stage!) and I’m glad she was able to go. It was almost as good as being able to go there myself.
Good for Moon. The pictures in the various media looked great!
I couldn’t get there due to a day-long meeting. Those who know my Springsteen obsession were depressed, on my behalf.
I told ‘em, “I’ve seen Springsteen 17 times, doing 4 hour concerts. I didn’t kill me to miss him sing two songs, solo, in less than perfect conditions”.
Of course, I would have loved to have been on that balcony sharing a beer with him and his wife Patti (and Tom Brokaw too!)
Color me green with envy! I would love to see one of the Kerry rallies with Springsteen. No, travelling from St. Louis to Cleveland to see Bruce last month wasn’t enough for me. Not in the slightest.
As exciting as it was for her to see Kerry (and Dennis Kucinich, Russ Feingold and Tammy Baldwin), she apparently didn’t think *Brooooooce* was all that. But that’s youth for ya!
(Irene, I thought of you… you are the most loyal Springsteen fan I know.)

I can’t believe how many people were there!! it was really exciting to see so many people turn out. I live in Los Angeles, and we can’t quite get a read on the rest of the country. Bush lovers are rare where I live, in fact they keep it on the down low. Great for your daughter to be there and witness history. I enjoy your blog, keep it up.

It was awesome! It didn’t help that Bruce took over 30 minutes to get on the stage… Kerry was great! Me and Lemon wrote Buck Fush on our foreheads….
