bag lust

I have the most awesome bag by the most awesome craftsperson ever, but I still can’t help looking at various knitting bag/purse options. I carry my Hopper everywhere I go. (That’s not me in the picture, by the way.) My Hopper has tons of room. Isn’t it cute? It’s also very well made. People compliment me on it all the time.

Still, I need to indulge my roving eye at times. Want to see?

Here’s one of the other bags I’ve been looking at lately. It’s the Swift by Tom Bihn, a company in the northwest U.S. The Swift was designed with input from Knitty.com readers, and it has a lot of cool design features. And it’s pretty inexpensive for a knitting bag.

Of course, I’d end up with all the extra optional stuff. Particularly the clear organizer pouches. Wonder how hard it would be to add a d-ring or two to my Hopper? The key strap is frickin’ cool as well, and could be used to attach scissors, etc.

Here we have the Haiku To-Go bag. Looks like an awesome amount of storage in a fairly compact package. One plus is that it’s carried messenger-bag-style. I’m not sure how I’d feel about having to deal with a flap, though.

This bag, too, is relatively inexpensive at around $66. There’s one closure that uses evil velcro, but it’s away from the main compartment. I’ve spotted Haiku bags in a local store, so I might just have to pop in and check them out in detail.

Finally, we have the Sabrina bag by Offhand Designs. This is one heck of a gorgeous bag. I like that the strap is convertible, and that it has two compartments so you can keep your knitting stuff separate from your purse stuff. However, it only comes in six patterns right now… and it’s quite spendy. If I had the dough and the inclination, I’d probably get either the Punch Bloom (shown) or Martini patterns.

What do you think? Which would you choose if you were forced to select one of these? And what are your criteria for the perfect bag?
